Smarting from failure of the alleged coup against his Senate leadership by the ruling All Progressive Congress government, Senate President Bukola Saraki has called for a probe into the invasion of the national assembly by security operatives.

Personnel of the Department of State Services had invaded the NASS on Tuesday, barring lawmakers from carrying on with their legislative functions.

Saraki had summoned a meeting of NASS members to consider President Muhammadu Buhari supplementary budget for Independent National Commission for the 2019 election.

But the invasion by the DSS disrupted the process even as there were insinuations of plan by APC senators to impeach Saraki and his deputy Ike Ekweremadu.

The outrage over the invasion made the acting President Yemi Osinbajo to savk the DSS director general, Lawal Daura whose position was replaced with Matthew Seifuya.

On Wednesday, Saraki told a world press conference that the invasion was not acceptable, hence should be properly investigated.

He commended Osinbajo for intervening to sack Daura but said what happened at the NASS was an embarrassment to the country and a minus to democracy practice in Nigeria.

Saraki regretted that he was being hounded for his political believes and said it was wrong for the APC to assume it made him senate President, saying it was his fellow senators who chose him for the office.

On the supplementary budget sent to the lawmakers by President for INEC, Saraki wondered why Buhari did not consider it necessary to do so earlier than he did.

Saraki later met with the INEC chairman, Yakubu Mamoud and his team to work out how to deal with the budget.

Mahmoud said the INEC was pleased with the meeting and that they were optimistic the budget will be passed expeditiously next week.
