The All Progressive Congress government has accused the Senate President Bukola Saraki of working against the interest of the party.
Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed said on Wednesday while addressing newsmen at the end if the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting that Saraki never worked to develop the APC.
Saraki defected ftom the APC for the PDP on Tuesday raising fears of further crisis hiting the ruling party.
His state governor Abdulfattah Ahmed also left for the PDP with 23 of the 24 Kwara State house of Assembly members dumping the APC for the PDP on Wednesday.
Mohammed who also hails from Kwara had said that Saraki’s defection with his loyalists will not stop President Muhammadu Buhari from winning the state in the 2019 presidential election.
Mohammed spoke as the APC natoonal President Adams Oshiomhole said the party will not allow Saraki to continue in the capacity of a senate President on tbe platform of the APC when he has dumped the party.
Oshiomhole said it would be advisable if Saraki surrenders the position honourably.
Mohammed was not the only APC chieftain who said Saraki’s defection will not stop Buhari from winning as the governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha spoke in the same on Wednesday.
Imo state APC is one of the chapters that is under the firm grip of crisis due the inordinate ambition of Okorocha and some if his surrogates in the party.
