The tenure of Senator Bukola Saraki as President of the 8th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has formally come to an end.
The tenure ended on Thursday, June 6, 2019, having been inaugurated on June 9, 2015.
Saraki’s tenure was a mixed bag of many things- harrassment by the powers that be in the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), trials and persecutions and other political intrigues that led to his ditching the APC for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole and APC national leader, Bola Tinubu are among the many chieftains of the party who are celebrating Saraki’s tenure.
“Please inform all the distinguished senators that the handing over of office keys, furniture and office equipment will commence today, Thursday, June 6 through to Saturday the June 8. Distinguished senators are, accordingly, enjoined to contact the committee in charge of the exercise in the Senate Committee Room 107 which is in the new Senate Building between the hours of 9 am, to 5 pm, for the handing over.”
That was how Saraki on Thursday charged the National Assembly management to deal with property in its custody as members of the 8th NASS end their tenure.
Saraki read from the letter by the Committee on Recovery and Preparation of the Eight Assembly Offices’ Furniture and Equipment for Ninth Senate.
It was at the beginning of the valedictory session of the 8th NASS that Saraki made the announcement.
Consequently, the NASS management gave the outgoing members of the 8th Senate 72 hours to hand over their office keys and equipment.
