The Senate on Thursday asked the police to investigate the death of popular gospel artist, Mrs. Osinachi Nwachukwu.
The death of the 42-year-old mother of four, has elicited controversy with her family and associates calling for justice, insisting she was a victim of domestic violence.
Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, the Senator, representing Anambra South Senatorial District, presented the matter to the Senate during Thursday’s plenary session.
President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, described Osinachi’s death as one death too many, declaring that the live of every Nigerian must matter.
Following public outcry and a formal complaint by the deceased’s family, her husband was arrested by the police in Abuja and is now in custody.
Spokeswoman of the Abuja police command, Josephine Adeh has confirmed that the husband of the late singer was in police custody.
“He is now in our custody. The younger brother of the deceased reported the matter and we have commenced an investigation”.
