There was solidarity rally for the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shuaibu at the Kings Square, Benin City on Thursday.

The rally was organised by a coalition of civil society groups, labour and concerned politicians from the 18 LGs in Edo state to garner public support for the governor in view of the good work he is doing in the state.

The rally also had in attendance, Secretary to the state government, Osarodion Ogie, and other senior government officials and party leaders.

Obaseki and the former governor, Adams Oshiomhole, who is his political godfather have been having issues of late over who controls the levers of power in the state.

Oshiomhole is the national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), the platform under  which Obaseki and Shuabu came on board Edo State as governor and deputy respectively.

The Thursday rally was not well attended but had the attendees speaking well about the duo of Obaseki and Shuaibu and ready to stand by them in thick and thin.
