Sophie Oluwole, renowned professor of African philosopher at the University of Lagos has died, aged 83.
She reportedly died at about 8 pm on Sunday after a protracted illness.
Oluwole was the first Nigerian female doctorate degree holder in philosophy and practiced Yoruba philosophy creditably.
She was born in Igbara-oke, Ondo State in 1936, an she studied history, geography and philosophy at UNILAG.
