Governors from the South-East geopolitical zone have agreed to name the Second Niger Bridge after President Muhammadu Buhari.
Special Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi disclosed that the governors reached agreement to have the bridge named after President Buhari following a consultation.
Femi Adesina, Media Adviser to the President, had in a statement, last Monday, announced that the president would commission seven legacy projects – three major bridges, three Federal Secretariats and a road.
Adesina stated that the inauguration would be headlined by the Second Niger Bridge which was conceptualised in 2005.
Other bridges to be inaugurated are the Loko-Oweto Bridge across River Benue to link Benue to Nasarawa State and the Ikom Bridge in Cross River State.
The 1.6km Second Niger Bridge connects Asaba, the Delta State capital to Onitsha in Anambra State.
Meanwhile, President Buhari has approved the naming of the newly-completed Federal Secretariat, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State after his predecessor, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
