The Supreme Court has reaffirmed its stance on the sack of Herman Hembe, the sacked House of Representatives member who represented Vandeikiya/Konshisha federal constituency of Benue State.
Hembe had desperately approached the Supreme Court again to refer his case to a lower court for retrial after the apex court ordered him to vacate his former seat and return all monies he earned in the House of Representatives since 2015.
The Supreme Court also awarded the sum of N1 million against Hembe in favour of Dorathy Mato, the defendant.
Hembe has been working to frustrate the swearing in of Mato, with insinuations that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara was working hands in glove with the sacked lawmaker because of alleged vested interest.
Twice had Mato approached Dogara’s House for swearing in and twice she was turned down.
Hembe once complained he had spent the millions of Naira he was wrongly paid for occupying a seat he did not win in the House, a situation he wanted to look for other ways to return to his seat.
