The supreme court of Nigeria has upheld the eligibility of Governor Fayemi Kayode to contest the governorship position of Ekiti State.

A five-man Supreme Court panel which sat on Wednesday dismissed the petition of former Governor Segun Oni challenging the right of Fayemi to contest the poll that bought him into office last year for a second time.

Both a federal high court and the court if Appeal had earlier ruled in Fayemi’s favour but Oni still sought the opinion of the apex court.

On Wednesday in Abuja, the apex court still ruled in favour of Fayemi bringing to an end the issue of his eligibility to run.
