The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named a political ally of a former minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State as his presidential campaign Director General.

The appointment of Lalong is believed to be a great masterstroke for the APC aimed at neutralizing the anti-Muslim-Muslim voices.

He will also appeal to the political senses of those who are desperately rocking the boat for the APC.

Governor Lalong is a Papal Knight, Knight of Saint Gregory the Great (KSGG) in the Catholic Church and believed not to be a religious bigot.

Currently, he is the Chairman of Northern Governors Forum (the first Christian to occupy the position)and said not to be a slave to religion.

Inner caucus of the APC said Governor Lalong knows that APC didn’t fly a Muslim-Muslim ticket to spite or dominate Northern Christian or Nigerian Christians and that the decision is a masterstroke for electoral victory and nothing more.

Said a source in APC: “After all, it was under APC that, Yakubu Dogara, a Northern Christian first became Speaker of the House of Representatives in 2015. He was strongly supported by many Northern Muslims like Aminu Tambuwal and Abdulmunini Jubrin against Femi Gbajabiamila, a fellow Muslim.

“It was also under APC that a Northern Christian, Babachir David Lawal was first appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). He Lawal was dismissed for corruption, another northern Christian, Boss Mustapha was appointed to replace him. This is the first in history.

“So, APC is not trying to slight or dominate Christians with the Muslim-Muslim ticket. It was just a masterstroke.

“Governir Simon Lalong understands the game but ingrates and mischief makers like Dogara and Babachir Lawal are pretending not to understand.

“We leave everything for God who reigns supreme over the affairs of men.”
