Tough Times Await Bandits In Imo As New Commander Assumes Office

The new Commander of the Nigerian Army 34 Artillery Brigade, Imo State, Brigadier General Usman Lawal, has vowed that he will fight with figure to ensure the bandits who have been disturbing the peace of Imo State are smoked out of their hideouts.

He spoke shortly after taking over at the Brigade Command headquarters in Obinze, Imo State.

The new Commander said the security agencies will collaborate to ensure the activities of criminals are brought to the barest minimum, so Imo residents can go about their legitimate activities without fear or intimidation.

He noted that in recent times, Imo State, like other South-East states, has witnessed security challenges occasioned by activities of gunmen and non-state actors.

The Nigerian Army 34 Artillery Brigade, in collaboration with other security agencies in the state, has been at the forefront of combating insecurity in the state.

Brigadier General Sani Suleiman, who took charge of the Command for 16 months, passed the baton to Brigadier General Lawal as the new Brigade Commander, 34 Artillery Brigade in the state.

The outgoing brigade commander noted that the Nigerian Army had done so much in the last few months to curb activities of the bandits, stating that they were not relenting in the fight against the bandits.

The new Brigadier General has vowed to go after the criminals in line with the directives of the hierarchy of the Nigerian Army.

The new brigade commander also met with men and officers of the command and was taken around on a familiarisation tour.
