The Imo State governorship election tribunal has affirmed that Governor Emeka Ihedioha was duly elected governor in the March 2019 election.
Candidates of the Action Alliance, Uche Nwosu, All Progressive Grand Alliance, Ifeanyi Araraume and All Progressive Congress, Hope Uzodinma had approached the tribunal to lay different complaints upon which they sought Ihedioha declared not elected.
Delivering judgement in Abuja on Saturday, September 21, the panel of judges found the petitions of Nwosu, Araraume and Uzodinma not convincing enough as to void Ihedioha’s victory in March.
Not even the contentious petition that Ihedioha did not win in two thirds of the 27 local government areas of Imo State could persuade the tribunal to accede to the demands of the petitioners.
There was spontaneous jubilation in Imo after the tribunal ruling that lasted for more than 9 hours as the indigenes said they were not prepared to be returned to the days of locusts they claim Ihedioha has come to remedy.
