Two killed as Helicopter crashes into building at Opebi, Lagos

A Helicopter believed to belong to Quorum Aviation with registration number, 5NBQW, has crashed into a building at Salvationa area of Opebi, in Ikeja, Lagos.

The Federal Ministry of Aviation identified the ownership of the helicopter as Bell 206.

It is believed that two persons have been confirmed dead from the crash, according to a Lagos State  government official, Gboyega Akosile.

One person is reported injured and has been taken to the Lagos State Teaching hospital. The dead passengers were deposited in the morgue and were said to have died as a result of the impact of the crash.

The helicopter was billed to Lagos from Port Harcourt, according to government officials in Lagos, from where the passengers boarded the flight.

The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) of the ministry also confirmed the incident just as emergency rescue operation has long commenced.

The AIB said the black box had been recovered and is being looked at closely to ascertain the cause of the accident.
