Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has felicitated the Muslim faithful on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir that is celebrated all over the world.

The Federal Government of Nigeria  declared Thursday 30 and Friday 31 July, 2020 as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

According to a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser, Oguwike Nwachuku, Governor Uzodimma said that this year’s Eid-el-Kabir is peculiar because it is celebrated when the world is grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic of which Nigeria is not an exception.

While calling on our Muslim brothers and sisters to imbibe the spirit of love, peace, kindness and sacrifice fall of which Prophet Mohammed is noted for, Governor Uzodimma urged them to also use the opportunity of the Eid-el-Kabir to pray fervently for the end of the challenge of coronavirus pandemic.

“The time to pray fervently for God’s intervention and mercy upon our country regarding the COVID-19 is now and I call on our Muslim brothers and sisters to make that one of their prayer points.”

While advising the Muslim faithful, particularly those in Imo State to continue to observe the COVID-19 protocols as they make merry, Governor Uzodimma also urged them to reflect deeply on those who do not have what it takes to celebrate during this period of Eid-el-Kabir and show them love.
