Uzodimma Gets Agric Minister’s Nod to Support Imo

Governor Hope Uzodimma, Friday paid a work visit to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to interface with the Minister, Alhaji Muhammad Sabo Nanono.

Uzodimma after the meeting stated that the main stay of Nigeria’s economy, outside of federal allocations is Agriculture, hence his administration’s interest in ensuring and encouraging increased Agricultural production irrespective of the Covid19 pandemic, towards food security for local consumption and also for export.
“We are laying emphasis on agro based projects, as a catalyst to employment generation”, he said.

Uzodimma added: “My visit is to enhance the cordial work relations between us, this Ministry, its departments and agencies; provide the highly required avenue for Imo State Government as well as the private sector players in Agriculture, food industry, others to project products, services and all they do via facilitating Imo State’s inclusions in national and international activities of your Ministry.”
The governor also sought visible inclusions of Imo State in Agric Funds and Loans (non interest) to small and medium scale farmers in the state, mechanised farm equipment, storage facilities, intervention projects and programmes for the rural areas in Imo State.

Governor Uzodimma told Nanono that his government shall promote egalitarian society for all Imo people at home and in the Diaspora.
“We are rekindling hope, and restoring the self confidence that we are known for. We are promoting equal opportunities for our women and support for venerable persons. So, every intervention, every support, every assistance from your Ministry is vital for me”, he stressed.
Responding, Nanono assured Uzodimma that the Ministry will assist the state on all the areas he has highlighted.
“We shall partner Imo State in many of our programmes, and ensure that more rural interventions are done.”
He thanked the governor for the visit, insightful interactions and deliberations.
