UPDATED: Uzodimma Receives Sun Newspapers Governor of the Year 2021 Award Letter

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has formally received “Governor of the Year 2021” letter of award from the Management of The Sun Publishing Company Limited, Lagos
The company publishes Daily Sun, Saturday Sun and Sunday Sun.
The award letter was presented to the Governor in his office in Owerri on Friday by the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Onuoha Ukeh, accompanied by the Editor of Daily Sun,  Mr. Iheanacho Nwosu and Editor of Sunday Sun, Mr. Chidi Nnadi.
Receiving the award letter, Governor Uzodimma said he is “overwhelmed and excited receiving the award from no mean establishment than Sun Publishing Company.”
He said “the award is an encouragment to me and the people of Imo State to continue to do better for the world to see,  especially in the area of good governance.”
He thanked the Management and Staff of Sun Newspapers for finding him worthy of the award and promised not to betray the confidence they have reposed on him with the award. He also gave indication he would attend the award ceremony.
Earlier while presenting the letter, leader of the team, Mr. Ukeh gave reasons for the choice of Governor Uzodimma for the recognition by the Editorial board members of the medium which he said include: achievements of the Governor in areas of road infrastructure, provision of public utilities, market development, development in both primary, secondary and tertiary education as well as development in the health sector.
He emphasized that “Governor of the Year Award” is reserved for Governors whose administration has made verifiable and visible impact on their people and concluded that from the assessment of the Board of Editors of the medium “Governor Uzodimma has silently recorded achievements that have transformed Imo State for the better.”
Ukeh  informed that Governor Uzodimma’s choice started with his first being nominated, reasons given for his nomination, achievements credited to him identified/verified before he was eventually voted for the award, in what he called “a rigorous process.”
While presenting the letter to  Governor Uzodimma, he congratulated him for clinching the award as “Governor of the Year 2021” and urged him to be available for the ceremony proper on May 7, 2022 in Lagos.
Present to witness the presentation were the Commissioner for Information and Strategy,  Hon. Declan Emelumba, the Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser, Mr. Oguwike Nwachuku and the Chief of Protocol/Special Adviser, Sir Bright Nwelue.
