Baring any unforeseen circumstances, the April/May 2018 West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) results will be released by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on July 4 for the candidates who sat for the exam, the authorities have said.
No less than 1.5 million candidates across Nigeria sat for the examination held between March and early May 2018.
WAEC spokesman, Damianus Ojijeogu was quoted by Tribune as saying that the release of the results will be announced by the head of Nigeria’s Office of WAEC, Olu Adenipekun, at a press conference scheduled for 12 noon at WAEC Training and Testing Centre, Ogba-Ikeja on Wednesday.
During the examination, it was reported that operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) arrested four suspects in Ondo, Edo and Osun states for allegedly selling leaked WASSCE May/June, 2018 examination question papers on websites and Whatsapps platforms.
The arrested suspects are: Samuel Kayode, 28-year-old from Ondo state, Adebayo Ifeoluwa, 17-year-old from Osun state, and Alayande Ahmed and Elusode Festus, 20 years from Edo state.
