The Rivers State Government has appealed to motorists to exercise patience as it tackles the Rumuola-Aba Road Roundabout Project.
Commissioner for Information and Communications Emma Emma Okah told motorists and other road users to bear with the Rivers State Government for the present inconveniences caused them by the on-going construction work around the Rumuola-Aba Road bridge in Port Harcourt.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, Okah said the current work going on around the axis is huge as a result of the damage arising from the neglect of the road for a long time by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
“The neglect of that portion of Aba Road by the Federal Government of Nigeria had caused extensive damage, giving rise to deep gullies and recalcitrant flooding which can only be remedied by equally extensive work,” he said, noting that the State Government is concerned about the early completion of the project to reduce the discomfort suffered by affected road users.
According to Okah, the Nyesom Wike administration has no tolerance for shoddy job or delayed project and assured Rivers people that the project when completed, will guarantee free flow of traffic, drain flood, beautify the area and promote the welfare and happiness of our people.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Government appreciates the support from members of the public in appreciation of the people-oriented projects of the Rivers State Government under Governor Wike.
However, Port Harcourt-Aba Road is under the control of the Federal Government of Nigeria but the current intervention is done by the Rivers State Government in the spirit of Wike’s belief that the pursuit of the happiness of Rivers people is paramount.
