World cup: Nigeria batter Iceland 2-0

It was a big relieve for Nigerians on Friday when the Super Eagles tamed the Iceland 2-0 during the world cup elimination series for Group D.

The first half of the match produced no goals but during the second half, Nigeria opened scores with Ahmed Musa wiring in a sensational shot that instantly got the stadium electrified.

Another opportunity for Nigeria to score again came when Victor Moses, playing on the right flank slipped another pass to Musa who dribbled past one of the Iceland defenders as well as the goalkeeper before he took another well deserved shot into the goal which put Nigeria on a comfortable 2-0 lead.

A penalty awarded against Nigeria by the referee was however not converted by the Iceland players few minutes to the end of the 90 minutes encounter.

Nigeria is billed to play Argentina on Tuesday, June 26, a match that will determine whether the country will move into the next round of the tournament.
