Yellow Fever Kills 22 in Delta State

The Delta State Government has confirmed that 22 persons have been killed in yellow fever outbreak in the state.

The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mordi Ononye, who confirmed this on Friday during a media bring in Asaba, the state capital, explained that following the mysterious deaths recorded in Ute-Okpu and Idumesa communities in Ika North East Local Government Area of the state, the state government conducted some tests to ascertain the cause of the deaths.

Ononye stated that the results of the tests carried out come back positive for Yellow Fever disease.

He said that 22 deaths have been recorded with seven active cases receiving treatments in various hospitals in the state.

According to the Commissioner, the state ministry of health is currently awaiting the government’s position from the Regional Test Centre in Dakar, Senegal.
